ECASD Grading System

The High Schools implement a grading system that includes plus/minus grades (A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+ C, C-, D+, D, D-, and F). The plus/minus system will give a more accurate reflection of academic performance, as well as provide a uniform grading scale to help with consistency in grading. Grade reports are distributed to students in homerooms at the close of each 9-week grading period, except fourth quarter grades, which are mailed to parents at the end of the school year. Grade point averages are computed according to a 4.0 point scale.

*Each student’s grade point average (G.P.A.) is determined by dividing the total number of grade points accumulated by the number of credits in which the student is enrolled. Senior students’ class rank is determined by their grade point averages.

University of Wisconsin Direct Admit and Wisconsin Guarantee

Direct Admit

The Eau Claire Area School District is participating in a program called Direct Admit Wisconsin. Direct Admit Wisconsin is designed to provide a place for all Wisconsin high school students to access a worldclass public education by proactively offering them admission to the Universities of Wisconsin.

Based on a review of a student's 11th grade transcript (grade point average and math coursework), students may receive communication in August before their senior year indicating which UWs are providing them direct admission, and the next steps they are to take in order to learn more about enrolling within the Universities of Wisconsin. Participation in Direct Admit Wisconsin does not obligate students to attend any university. To facilitate the administration of this program, the following information will be shared by the school in the summer between junior and senior year with the Universities of Wisconsin: Legal Name, WISEid, Local Student District ID, contact information, gender, race/ethnicity, GPA and high school transcripts. All 11th grade students will be opted-in to participate in the Direct Admit Wisconsin program; an opt out option is available.

Ten UW schools participate in Direct Admit Wisconsin. (The only schools who do not participate are UW-Madison, UW-Eau Claire, and UW-La Crosse.)

*Students do not have to apply to the school they are planning to attend through Direct Admit. However, they must fill out the Direct Admit paperwork for the school they are planning to attend.*

Wisconsin Guarantee

First-year applicants from Wisconsin high schools who are in the top 10% of their class at the end of 11th grade, or Wisconsin residents who are homeschooled and receive an ACT score in the national 90th percentile ranking or higher, or are a National Merit Scholarship finalist will be guaranteed to all UW universities except UW-Madison.

To qualify for enrollment into UW-Madison, students must be enrolled in a public, private, or tribal high school in Wisconsin and must be ranked in the top 5% of their class at the end of their junior year (11th grade) and have more than 15 students in their class. When students meet the qualifications, they then are required to submit all required documents — including official indication of class rank or ACT score — by the Fall, First-Year Early Action application materials deadline in November.

Students who apply to UW–Madison and are eligible for the Wisconsin Guarantee will receive their admissions decision when they release their Early Action decisions, on or before January 31 of their senior year.

Step 2: Create your Parchment account using a PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS (if you're a new user)

Step 3: Make sure you are in the DASHBOARD

Step 4: Click on 'ORDER YOUR TRANSCRIPT'

Step 5: Select where you will be sending your transcript - to yourself or your college/university of choice - and order! Cost is $6 unless you are a current Memorial student.
