Through year round sports training and athletic competition Special Olympis builds self-esteem, fosters courage, and teaches valuable lessons about striving, winning, losing, and trying again. Atheltes with cognitive disabilities, ages eight to eighty, participate in Olympic-type sports. The athletes are given the continuing opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy. Here, they find a place of acceptance, friendship, respect, and belonging. ECASD Special Olympics athletes have the opportunity to participate in bowling, basketball, track, and swimming. Click here to check out their website.
